This photo-blog stands in mute protest against the obvious, but also pays tribute to the "guerillas" responsible for this covert truth campaign.

Nobody Died When Clinton Lied.

This slogan has been recently spotted in various locations along the I-5 freeway in southern Orange County, California. As quickly as it appears, it seems to disappear. We'd like your help in providing us sighting information via our Contact Us form. These sightings will be reported on this site for as long as I remain interested enough in this topic to keep the website alive. If you'd like to help support the movement, get a T-Shirt or bumpersticker to pass the word! In the interest of fairness, I've started posting some of the dissenting opinions I've been receiving via e-mail here.

Real soldiers are dying in their Hummers So you can play soldier in yours. 10 miles per gallon; 2 soldiers per day.Taking a cue from the old Burma Shave signs of old, the phantom poster strikes takes a wider blow than usual. While this doesn't rhyme as those ads of old did, the bite is just as strong. Imploring consumers to consider those who continue to die abroad for our excesses. Spotted by MJG on I-5 northbound, just sount of Crown Valley Parkway, Mission Viejo, CA

The War is a LieIt's been kind of quite on the mysterious poster's front. This morning on the way to work noticed these painted boards nailed up in a eucalyptus tree right off the freeway. At it's feet lied the remains of torn carboard sign (there wasn't enough of it there to make out what it said) that obviously angered someone. The protest continues... Spotted by MJG on I-5 southbound, just north of Junipero Serra in San Juan Capistrano.

Dear America, Thanks for all the money, sorry about your kids. HaliburtonMark Frauenfelder writes at his blog Boing Boing: The Scarlet Pimpernel sends this example of Los Angeles freewayblogging: It's about 10'X10' and reads "Dear America, Thanks for all the money, sorry about your kids. -- Halliburton Oil" on one side and "Nobody Died when Clinton Lied" on the other." He also post the first usage (that I've seen) of the very appropriate term "freewayblogging". Or perhaps we should shorten this to freeblogging or perhaps just flogging? Sighting by the Scarlet Pimpernel and posted on Boing Boing.

A sand or gravel truck was spotted lumbering up the freeway with "Nobody Died When Clinton Lied" drawn into the dirt on the back of the truck; much like one would inscribe "Wash Me" on a dirty car's rear window. Way to use what's available to make a statement! Spotted by LKG on northbound I-5 at Ortega Highway, San Juan Capistrano, CA.

Bush LiedA new sign by what appears to be new artist. Simple and to the point. This is a much cruder, hand-painted sign but effective none the less. Of course it's lifespan was short as well. This was down by mid-day on the 6th.. Spotted by MJG off  Northbound I-5 at Avery Parkway, Mission Viejo, CA.

Dulce et Decorum est por Haliburton Mori A new campaign to start off a new month. This time around the poster is hoping for a bit of work on the part of the viewers. The sign is a derivation of Horace's old lie. "Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori." is usually translated as "It is sweet and proper to die for one's country." The mysterious protestor has modified it to read "It is sweet and proper to die for Haliburton."; one of the major financial beneficiaries of the war in Iraq. Spotted by MJG off  northbound I-5 north of Avery Parkway, Mission Viejo, CA.

32,000 Dead and I'm still paying $2.29 for unleadedI spotted this sign yesterday and was unable to get back and take a picture until this morning. Appears to be the work of the same "artist" as it is in the location of the original Nobody Died sign mentioned in the 'blog entry below.  Spotted northbound Oso Parkway onramp, I-5, Mission Viejo, CA.

Nobody Died When Clinton LiedSpotted on Oliver Willis' blog. This image has been spotted on numerous blogs, for and against W's duplicity. Just Google it... Now if I can only find out who this brave soul, who appears to have been moving this sign around since as early as July 15th, is... A little more digging has led me to believe the first WEB appearance of this sign was at Politics in the Zeros, a weblog that has "Musings on politics; California, water, and otherwise".  Spotted on the 'Net via Google.

The second sighting; apparently from the same individuals as the sign appeared identical to that spotted the previous week. This was strung in the middle of a broken section of the soundwall adjacent to the freeway lending an appropriate air of destruction. I was unable to get a picture of it since I didn't have a camera with me at the time. It was down by the time I drove past it with a camera later in the afternoon. Unknown if it was pulled down by offended Republicans, San Clemente sign enforcement officers or CalTrans officials. Spotted at I-5 southbound, just south of the Estrella/Los Mares off-ramp, San Clemente, CA
